The XXX Concurso Ornitológico will take place in Almuñécar between the 28th of October and the 6th of November.

The venue, as in the previous six years, will be on the ground floor of one of the buildings in Plaza Mayor – that’s is the square behind Carbonell‘s store.

If you’re an ornithologist on the quiet, then you still have time to get your name down with your prize specimen because the subscription period ends this Sunday the 23rd.

The Chairman of the Asociación Ornitológica de Almuñécar, José Alaminos Martin explained that their club, as is the case each year organised the event with the backing of the Town Hall

Once the period for putting your entry forward expires, the competition will begin, on the 28th, with competitors bringing their prize bird forward to be judged.

As far as the general public goes, the birds will be on display from the 1st to the 5th between 10.00h and 14.00h and then from 17.00h to 21.00h.

Finally, on Sunday the 6th, starting at 12.00h, the results will be given in the Casa de la Cultura.

Now, there should be a decent turn out as this competition attracts a lot of participants; last year there was just under 1,500 of them, from Almería, Málaga, Mallorca and Granada.
