An employee at the Youth Department of the Almuñécar Town Hall has been arrested, accused of the alleged sexual abuse of a 16 and 18-year old.
The arrest took place on Sunday the 11th after the 18-year-old reported him to the Guardia Civil.
According to the young man, he had been groped. His statement was considered plausible, hence the arrest.
Precisely because of the accused’s job, police investigators suspected that there could be other offences, which turned out to be the case as a 16-year-old male came forward with similar claims of sexual abuse.
The alleged perpetrator, who is 42-years old, was held at the police station until the investigation had concluded and was then taken before the magistrate on Monday the 12th.
The police also took a statement from a witness, who confirmed the version of one of the two alleged victims.
Having heard the statements from the accused, the alleged victims and the witness, the magistrate decided to release the accused pending trial but with the obligation of reporting in whenever it is required of him.
The accused is said to have had a meeting with the Mayor of Almuñécar, in which he denied the charges against him and requested the temporary suspension of his work contract in order avoid tarnishing the reputation of the own Hall.
