Kids & Mobility Scooter

gra-mobility-scooterFive adolescents were briefly arrested for ‘borrowing’ somebody’s electric mobility scooter for a day and taking it on joy rides around town.

The town in question was not revealed in the police report as they are minors; all that we know is that it was a town in the province of Granada.

The boys admitted before the police that they had deprived its rightful owner of its use and taken it without permission, for over 24 hours: from the afternoon of the 21st of November 2015 to 18.00h the next day.

During this time they took it for ‘spins’ around town – they were discovered using in on one of the town’s streets.

Initially, when questioned, they claimed that they had found it and were returning it but later owned up, so no hearing before a minors court was required.

They have been sentenced to 70 hours of community service, working with people with physical handicaps by collaborating with the Cruz Roja

Apart from the community service, they will also have to pay the owner 85 euros for one of the missing batteries: they had taken them both out, one they handed over to the Policia Local and the other is ‘lost in combat.’
