Spain has witnessed two fireballs cross over its skies in the last 48 hours; the first visible in Cáceres and the second from all over the south of Spain.
The first fireball entered the atmosphere on the 15th of August at 95,000 kmph and disintegrated at a height of 85 kilometres, more or less above the Almaraz nuclear power station.
The second one, which was much bigger and supplied as much light as a full moon, entered the atmosphere above Jaen at 117 kilometres altitude before disintegrating at the lower height of 78 kilometres
Both objects were picked up by the Astronomic Observatory near Huelva (La Hita). Astronomers believe that the two rocks became detached from a comet.
