A man had to be rescued from an area known as the Junta de los Ríos in the municipality of Otívar whilst on an abseiling expedition down the said waterfalls.

The incident occurred on Wednesday the 3rd when the 43-year-old man fell down a small embankment below the Camino Orgil and injured his leg, His companions alerted the emergency services at 15.10h.

The Guardia Civil mountain-rescue unit, Sereim was dispatched, which reached him and and took him to a waiting helicopter that transferred him to the newly opened general hospital in Granada, the Parque Tecnológico de la Salud (PTS) with an injured ankle.

Editorial comment: one helicopter and full rescue team tied down by… an injured ankle – that is a costly mobilization… Best that somebody has a good insurance policy if this was an organized commercial excursion.
