Around 60 members of staff from Motril Hospital Santa Ana demonstrated in front of the building at the beginning of the month, demanding an increase in their numbers.
The Spokesman for the CSIF workers union, Victorino Girela, complains that the general strategy of the Junta is simply to increase the number of hours worked by existing staff in order to avoid increasing job slots or sending temporary workers to cover the positions of those off sick or on holiday.
For this reason the union representative considers the present situation as unsustainable.
According to Mariano Sánchez, union spokesman for the CGT, the hospital – which serves the whole province south of the city of Granada – requires 60 extra staff in order to provide a good service and reasonable working hours.
