Cowboy Walk

AND Almeria LandscapeThe Almuñécar Walking Club (PMD) has planned a hike in Almería this coming Sunday around the areas where many of the Spaghetti Westerns were filmed.

It also promises to be an excellent walk for beginners, so to speak, because there is an option of doing only the first six kilometres.

“The route will only have one difficult part, which is the descent of Barranco Verdelecho; the rest is easy and mostly level. It’s one of the easiest routes so far this year, which includes spectacular volcanic formations and botanical curiosities,” explained the walking-club guide, Sr. Garín.

This route takes you through the Tabernas Desert, which has attracted many film directors as a location for such films as Indiana Jones, Platoon, Exodus, Cleopatra, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Fistful of Dollars, etc.

Interested? Get down to the Almuñécar municipal stadium and make sure you’ve got your name down for it.
