The Guardia Civil found the body of a 52-year-old woman, Ángela G. G, whose remains had lain over a year on her couch at home in Madrid.

The discovering was made just before Easter in Valdilech (Madrid), a satellite town with a population of about 3,000 inhabitants.

During the weeks leading up to the discovery, neighbours had called the Guardia Civil on several occasions to say that the woman, who had no known relatives, hadn’t been seen in a long time.

After several such calls the police obtained a warrant to enter her house. No sooner as they had entered through the front door they could see the deceased lying on a couch.

The body, lying in an obvious state of decomposition, showed no signs of having suffered violence.
