The Motril Town Hall has warned that the arrival of 4G mobile coverage could cause problems with TV reception.
The frequency for 4G is around 800 MHZ so it could interfere with the TV signal for those people who live near the mobile-phone masts.
Phone companies have already started offering 4G to Motril residents, which will improve speed, give better reception inside buildings and reach further into rural areas around the town.
Should people experience problems, the phone companies have set up an entity called Llega 800, which has a help line: 900 833 999. You can also reach them on the Internet via www.llega800.es.
Each time the companies activate an area, locals will receive a letter to inform them that they can request a modification to their block TV aerial.
Finally, TV users that receive their signal via fibre optic, satellite or Internet, won’t be affected, obviously.
