Salobreña has put together a local tourism board comprised of professionals from the sector and local businesses, as well as Town Hall representatives.
This is fruit of the I Foro de Turismo, which was held in September 2015, where such a body was proposed. The task of the board is to lay down the general lines along which local tourism will be developed.
Amongst its member are representatives from the Asociación de Comerciantes y Empresarios de Salobreña (ACESA) and representatives from the Asociación de Hoteleros de la Villa y de la Costa (ADEHOS).
This are also representative from the Escuela de Hostelería and from the Asociación de Empresarios de la Costa Tropical (AECOST). Lastly, the consultancy Mexuar will also have an advisory capacity within the body.
All of the before-mentioned plus the Mayor, Mª Eugenia Rufino and the Councillor for Tourism, Manuel Guirado, got together in the first meeting to discuss the town’s participation in the coming national tourism fair in Madrid, FITUR, as well as the necessary changes needed for the development of the hotel area between El Peñón and La Guardia.
Editorial comment: It is certainly a positive step that politicians in the Town Hall begin to work closely with the private tourist sector in Salobreña.
