Women on the Run

ALP womens run OnLAs part of the December bank holiday activities within the tapas fair (6th to 8th) in Órgiva, the Town Hall organized the I Carrera Solidaria de la Mujer.

All told, 200 women from the town and other parts of the province, took part in the run.

The runners left the Plaza García Moreno at noon, setting out to complete a 2.6 KM circuit – some running; some walking.

The Mayor, María Ángeles Blanco, was there to greet them at the finishing line and congratulate them on their solidarity in supporting the Casa de Acogida in Órgiva (shelter for women).

Each runner contributed five euros to compete, every centimo of which went towards the cost of running  the shelter, which is managed by the Asociación de Mujeres por la Igualdad de Órgiva.

After this success, there are plans to hold the event each year.
