You often hear of school kids taking part in sapling replanting, but in Montefrio, this time it was pensioners from five different municipalities putting plant life back.
All told, 225 retired folk were out planting rosemary, lavanda and retama (broom) on hillsides that were stripped bare in a 2014 mountain-shrub fire.
The volunteers came from different Poniente municipalities, such as: Santa Cruz del Comercio, Alhama, Loja, Láchar and Montefrio itself.
