Dog Shot and Abandoned

AND Shot NoahThe Guardia Civil are keen to locate the owner of a dog that was found in a rubbish hopper, barely alive, after having been shot in the face with a shotgun.

The dog, called Noah, has so far survived the ordeal.

The Guardia Civil on its official Twitter account wrote: “This is Noah, his owner threw him in a rubbish container after shooting him. Do you know who it is? Collaborate and phone 062.”

According to the Associació d’Amics dels Animals de la Noguera, the incident took place on the 19th of November in Balaguer, in the province of Lerida. A local found the animal, blind, bleeding and suffering from hypothermia… but still breathing.

The local alerted the said animal association, who took charge of Noah, giving him the necessary medical treatment.

Veterinary surgeons were able to extract some of the shotgun pellets but it soon became apparent that they could not save one of his eyes. With the animal too weak to continue, the removal of the rest of the pellets had to wait.

It is still too soon to know if the dog has suffered neurological damage.

The association informs that the dog is suffering from shock and repeatedly wakes in a panic. Noah also won’t eat, so he is being artificially fed.

The association is trying to raise funds to cover the costs of the surgical intervention and medical care in general.
