A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 4 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a British woman in Nerja.
The incident took place in May 2011 when the victim was sat on her scooter outside a bar. The offender approached her, tried to kiss her on the mouth and pushed his hands down her trousers.
She managed to push him away and rode off in tears. As she spoke no Spanish, she found a male friend who did and reported the aggressor to the police.
At the trial, his defence lawyer claimed that the culprit had been drinking vodka and had accidentally spilt it down her, so he attempted to ‘clean her clothes,’ whilst attempting to kiss her, offered as an ‘apology.’
Strangely, the judge was not swayed by this ‘convincing testimony’ and sentenced the man to a further five years suspended sentence to be served once he was released from prison.
