An elderly man from Granada was found dead off the beach between the Paseo del Altillo and the Peñon del Santo.

The body was discovered at 13.00h today, Tuesday the 28th next to the new groyne or breakwater, where he had been bathing.

The 78-year-old gentleman had been accompanied by his wife but had left her on the beach whilst he went for a dip. Shortly after, another bather saw a body floating face down near the rocks.

When the emergency services pulled him out, he was already dead, unfortunately. His wife had to be treated at the medical centre, suffering from a shock, according to the municipal police.
