New Lodgers in the Aquarium

ALM New fish aquarium OnLThe Almuñécar Acuario now has 127 new ‘lodgers’ amongst its fishy community, belonging to 28 different species.

The Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón explained that amongst the newcomers are pez ojo, pez negro, starfish, flying gurnard and octopuses.

Now I’ve tried to get the translation of pez ojo (I only get fish-eye lenses) and pez negro but I have since given up – good luck on that one!

“They’re fishes of extraordinary beauty,” he said, “who inhabit the waters off our headlands between Almuñécar and Maro.”

The ‘new crew’ now have to go through their quarantine and adaption process before being distributed amongst the fish tanks in the installations.

Councillor Aragón also pointed out that although the Acuario has only been open since the 17th of July, there have already been 21,000 visitors.
