Driver Arrested After Eleven Years

antequera-bobadilla roadIt was in 2003 that a British tourist was knocked over and killed as he jogged along the road between Antequera and Bobdilla.

A local found the body of the 40-year-old man on the roadside with signs of multiple injuries and alerted the emergency services. The police quickly identified the victim as a tourist who had been staying in a nearby hotel with his wife.

The Policía Nacional took on the case which they put down to a hit-&-run incident from the beginning – they had found a skid mark that coincided with the calculated point of impact.

Soon after the police found a vehicle with damage that corresponded with this sort of accident. It was parked outside a Romanian immigrant settlement. Upon examining the interior of the car the police identified the finger prints of one E. Z., a 45-year-old Romanian and had been looking for him ever since

Finally on the 29th of November he was located at Málaga airport having just arrived on an inbound flight. The passport control officers found that his name was on an arrest-warrant list.

Editorial comment: His prints indicated that he had used the car, but not necessarily at the moment of the accident. Furthermore, there were prints from many other individuals. Evidence seems very flimsy.
