The Granada provincial law court has sentenced a Romanian man to eleven years’ imprisonment for the rape of a British woman in the Baza area of the province.
The incident took place on the 18th of November, 2012 around nine-thirty in the evening, outside the victim’s home. She had gone outside with a torch to see why the dog had been barking.
She ran straight into the 38-year-old offender, who was leaning against the wall of the house – she had never met him before. Upon seeing him, she tried to return inside but he jumped on her before she could make it. He then dragged her off into a nearby olive grove.
After raping her, he led her back to her house and then walked off.
Quite apart from the mental ordeal, she also suffered several physical injures as well as post-traumatic stress.
