Inquietudes del Alma

PP FlamencoMaria Gomez La Canastera is a natural choice to kick off flamenco shows with the arrival of summer, giving a new sheen to flamenco.

It’s a year ago since her successful flamenco play Romeo y Julieta and this season she presents her new work, Inquietudes del Alma.

She describes this work as a new way of expressing all her emotions from her heart and transferring it to her pupils, demonstrating that she is not only a formidable dancer, but also a consummate professional. She uses a new language, without fear of exposing it to the public, but always without losing that purity of flamenco that she has inherited from her family.

Her show captures the emotion, drama and passion of traditional flamenco, with a vibrant contemporary edge.

Hugely entertaining and colourful, this show offers a tour of the range of styles found within flamenco like Alegrías, Solea, Sevillanas, Tangos, Garrotín, Colombianas, Bulería, Saeta, Martinete or Taranto, and also introduces flamenco and Arabic influences.

As always, she will have all her pupils from The Flamenco School Maria Gomez “La Canastera” aged between five and 60 years old and the Musical Direction of Carmelo Najarro. There is also the collaboration of gran artistes: playing the guitar El nino Carmelo, singing Sergio El Colora & Antonio Gómez, El Turry, and percussion, Benjamin Santiago El Moreno. Lights & Sound will be provided by Roberto Joya.
