Avocado Thieves Arrested in Motril

MOT Avocado Thieves OnLMembers of the Policía Nacional caught a man and women, red handed, with stolen avocados. The woman was found on the plantation and the man, hiding within nearby wild sugar canes.

The couple had allegedly managed to collect 218 kilos of fruit, divided into six sacks from the avocado plantation on Camino Viejo de Calahonda in Motril.

The police had reacted to a phone tip off. The caller explained that ‘persons not connected’ with the plantation were collecting fruit.

The police unit was dispatched and upon arrival found the woman amongst the trees. Inspecting the area, they found the man, together with the sacks, hiding amongst the canes.

The accused are waiting to appear before a magistrate and the stolen fruit has been returned to its owner.
