Excursion to the Civil War Trenches

Excursion trenchesSome of the best preserved trench works of the Spanish Civil War can be found on Puerto Lobo in Huetor Santillán. If you’re interested, there is a trip there on the 8th of March.

How you get there, is up to you, but the starting point is the visitors’ car park at Puerto Lobo at 10.00h that day.

The walk covers between 15 and 20 kilometres with plenty of uphill and down hill – it’s a mountain pass, after all.

The trenches are known by the names El Maullo, de las Veguillas and De la Yedra. To get to them, the excursionists will pass through the Fuente de la Teja, Cueva del Agua and Cruz de Víznar.

All those interested should be present at the appointed time, carrying their own water, food for the day, as well as adequate footwear and warm clothing.
