OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Almuñécar 7-star hotel can finally go ahead, thanks to two years of intensive collaboration between the Junta and Almuñécar.

The stunning sum of 230-million euros has been locked up in this stalled project since the Junta contested the Town-Hall-issued Building Licence, owing to a lack of necessary paperwork.

The biggest stumbling block was the absence of an environmental-impact study, which has since been submitted and accepted as valid.

Both the Junta and the Town Hall handed out the “Don’t-Panic!” message to the press and set about working together closely to solve the problem – credit must be given to both who, despite the political divide (one is PSOE and the other PP) brought the negotiations to a successful conclusion.

The Junta withdrew its objections to the licence and on the 10th of December a magistrate in Granada declared that the appeal against the licence launched by the Junta had been terminated. He set down that the Town Hall had met all the requisites insisted upon by the Junta, and that the building developer could go ahead with the construction work at his convenience.
