October Cultural Events in Salobreña

Not to be outdone by its culturally-active neighbours (Almuñécar and Motríl), Salobreña is delighted to invite locals and foreigners to share in some diverse and interesting activities that are planned for the month of October.

Starting with concerts (always a favourite of mine), the first on the list will be brought to you courtesy of Motril choir, de Caña, taking place on Friday 11th October at the theatre José Martín Recuerda from 9pm. Tickets are a bargain, at €3 each for a repertoire that ranges from traditional music, through film themes and on to South American favourites.

Continuing along the choral vein, Saturday 12 October (Día de la Hispanidád, a national holiday in Spain) marks the 7th annual Autumnal Musical Encounter between Santa Cecilia Choir, Aguas Blancas Choir and Salobreña’s very own town choir. You’ll be delighted to learn that this concert is free to the public and conveniently takes place in the very same José Martín Recuerda auditorium, kicking off at 8pm.

Next on the agenda, are a whole host of theatrical productions, and you guessed it, they are all hosted at the same venue, José Martín Recuerda auditorium (talk about your multi-purpose facility!)

Starting Friday 18th from 9pm, the Teatro Mutrayil will be performing La Cornisa, with tickets at €3. At 8pm on Friday 25th October, you can also pay €3 to see the performance of El Difícil Arte del Olvido, with Eva Bold-o and Mª José de Rus. The very next day, theatre buffs can return to experience Teatro para Pájaros by the Troupe Histrión Teatro. The performance begins at 9pm, with tickets costing €5.

October also marks an important event for Radio Salobreña: its 25th anniversary which will be celebrated accordingly (at Jose Martín Recuerda auditorium, naturally) on Saturday 19th October with a Gala which includes live music, the appearance of those who have worked towards the success of this radio station during the past 25 years, as well as the presentation of various prizes and awards of recognition.

To top it all off, what better venue for a big Halloween bash, than Salobreña’s very own castle? Entry for children and upwards is €5 (please note that children should be accompanied) and you are all guaranteed to be scared by this Pasaje del Terror, which is brought to ghostly reality through the talents of the Théàtre des Vampires. You have been warned!

Now all you have to do is turn up and enjoy.
