For some years now Camping Don Cactus has been organizing chess competitions of a watery nature: Pasados por Agua.
Basically, chess matches are organized whereever there is a lot of water, ranging from the campsite swimming pool, to the bottom of the sea…
This latest ‘venue’ was used on the 15th of August just off the beach right in front of the camp site. The chess players were Jorge Fernández Montoro and Sergio Soto Pérez.
To prepare for ‘combat,’ they both had a crash course at the Escuela de Buceo Dárdanus, who provided the equipment and professional back up.
Who knows – it might catch on. We guess a win is declared with either a checkmate, your opponent running out of air or his being eaten by a shark.
