The Almuñécar Town Hall has handed over a pretty potent looking quad to the new rural branch of the local police.
The new branch will be dealing with camping issues on beaches, dogs, illegal fishing, and illegal rubbish dumping for all of which they need a bloody great quad bike.
The First Councillor for La Herradura, who is also the Councillor Citizen Safety, Ruiz Joya pointed out that the Patrulla Medio Ambiental was something that the good people of the town had been demanding for a long time. “They will help to make Almuñécar and La Herradura cleaner places,” he explained.
The Councillor claims that no extra cost has been accrued because the quad belonged to the Fire Department, who hardly ever used it and spent much of its life parked up.
Editorial comment: So, who was the bright spark that decided that the Almuñécar Fire Department needed a quad bike in the first place? Did anybody get a slapped wrist over this unnecessary initial waste of public funds?
