The Maintenance Department has been busy clearing out the vegetation in the Barranco del Quemado – La Cañada in La Herradura. That’s the one that runs down alongside the main road, just before traffic lights (next to the plant nursery, Agrosur).
Work has also taken place along the access lane for Pago de Guerra, which begins beside the said barranco, clearing small rock slides etc.
The First Councillor for La Herradura, Ruiz Joya, said that the Town Hall had asked permission to be able to cover over the barranco; i.e., allowing the water to run through a concrete or brickwork tunnel. It should be remembered that all riverbeds, barrancos and coastline come under the authority of the Central Government (Costas) or Regional Water Boards.
