The main Almuñécar opposition party, the CA, are not happy bunnies over the PP Town Council’s decision to stall on the partial demolition of the said hotel structure, whose ugly shadow graces the town’s western N-340 access.
Basically, the Town Hall received pretty clear instructions from the judge to proceed with the demolition upon part of the structure, which is two floors over the limit and invades public land belonging to the main road. The Town Council, according to the CA, decided on the 16th of April to stall, claiming that new technical and judicial reports need to be drawn up and studied now that they have received a demolition project from Sr. Medina Cano (the owner).
The owner of the land and the hotel project is the father of the PP Councillor, María del Mar Medina, yet it’s worth pointing out that the hotel project well predates his daughter’s becoming a councillor by at least a decade. The Hotel was originally approved by a previous PP administration in 2002.
And of course, this is not the only hotel that is facing demolition, as the Cotobro one faces a similar fate, but in this case, a hotel that a Benavides’ administration approved.
