In the northern extremity of urban Almuñécar lies San Sebastian and within it, Calle Guayaba… just to clear up that little mystery. It’s the street that connects Calle Chirimoyas to Calle Arcos del Ingenio.
Town Hall maintenance staff have been busy digging up the surface and laying a new one and according to the Head of the Obras y Mantenimiento Department of Almuñécar, it will be concluded before the month is out.
But it is not only about providing a new surface, because they have been busily beavering away (and would our American readers stop that infernal tittering) renovating the rain drains, sewage pipes and water mains – hopefully, not mixing them up. Work began, by the way during January.
If all goes according to plan – North Korea permitting – the street will have a cobbled surface along its 103 metres of length, and with the architectonic barrier removed.
How much did it cost? A piffling 130,297 euros; i.e., the equivalent amount to that which a mid-ranking politician puts in as expenses for a working lunch…
