2012 Results
The Costa Animal Society is pleased to announce that last year 234 dogs and 44 cats were homed, either from the CAS website or by volunteers through their own efforts. Of these, over 100 were puppies and 26 were kittens less than a year old.
A total of 105 dogs went to new homes in Germany, the Netherlands and other northern European countries, while the remaining 129 canines and all the cats found their new families in Spain.
CAS tries to make sure each animal is fully vaccinated and neutered before it is homed which costs around 100 euros for each male and 150 euros for each female. A quick bit of maths shows that CAS’s annual veterinary bill can easily top 20,000 euros and sometimes is double that total.
CAS would like to thank its many supporters, fosterers, volunteers and event attendees whose donations and participation make it possible for the charity to continue helping abandoned pets in our area.
Taking Your Pet to the UK
The Costa Animal Society has been informed that the airlines who fly to the UK no longer accept direct bookings for pets from individual passengers. Anyone wanting to transport a pet by air to the UK must now book the flight through an approved animal transport company.
The alternatives are to self-drive the pet or to use the services of an overland pet courier company. However, in the latter case, CAS strongly recommends that the company chosen is DEFRA approved.
