Nerja’s Burriana Parking Project

The Nerja Town Hall has awarded the Burriana, underground, car-park project to a temporary union of construction companies, Sardalla Española y Site.

The budget available was for 2,700.000 euros and their joint-company bid was for 2,485,165.48 euros. A total of 28 separate bids were put forward to the selection board, three of which submitted  were considered “bajas termarias;” i.e., disproportionately low. One of these was being considered as the possible winner. The said company was given an opportunity to justify their bid but the Selection Board finally opted to pass it over and go for the next in line, which was put forward by Sardalla Española y Site.

The projected underground car park will have 200 parking spaces and will take 18 months to build, starting from the day on which the contract is signed.

Councillor Antonio García stated that the project would be financed through the Fondo Financiero del Estado para la Modernización de las Infraestructuras Turísticas, FOMIT.

Nerja already has the Balcón de Europa parking with 733 spaces, Aparcamiento Verano Azul with 273 spaces and the parking belonging to the swimming pool and covered pavilion with 70 spaces, making the Burriana parking the fourth public, underground car park in Nerja.
