The Almuñécar Town Hall continues with its plan to both bring the rubbish recycling bins into the centre of Town and provide more of them.
It had long been a complaint that the bottle banks, etc, were on the outskirts of town, which discouraged people from using them. At the same time, the original location at the municipal market presented health risks as they were not emptied very often and the used, cooking-oil once attracted cockroaches etc.
Three companies specialised in this kind of rubbish collection, Ecovidrio, Resur and Biogranada, are phasing in the new recycling bins around town, including ones for paper & cardboard, plastic, tetrabriks, and cans & tins, as well as ones for glass (bottles).
The overhaul of the existing system began with changing the contracted company, which emptied the deposits very infrequently, some of which were often seen completely overflowing and with rubbish gathering around them.
