The local branch of the IU opposition party in Almuñécar is calling for the free-parking passes that councillors enjoy to be suppressed.

Believing in practicing what they preach, evidently, at the beginning of this present legislature their councillors gave up the said passes, but since then nobody appears to have followed suit, hence their suggestion made before the other councillors.

The IU Spokesman, Fermín Tejero, believes that these free passes reinforce the image that politicians are out of contact with the daily plight of mere mortal fellow citizens.

Well, the ‘suggestion’ has been entered into the minutes of the coming plenary meeting of the full Town Council… Let’s see.
