The Izquierda Unida is asking for measures to be taken against dog owners that allow their pets to foul pavements.
According to the IU, one of the most frequent complaints raised by visiting tourists is the amount of bum-burgers waiting for the unsuspecting to step on the unexpected. Therefore, the IU considers that the Mayoress should launch an ‘awareness’ campaign to educated the masses.
Furthermore, they want the Policia Local to go out and catch the guilty and fine the blighters – the pet owners; not the dogs, of course.
Lastly, they would like to see ‘pipicanes’ (waste bins for dog excrement) in all the town squares, parks and beaches.
Ask yourself this, though: are dog owners ‘unaware’ that it is anti-social to let their defecating quadrupeds carry out tetrabite downloads on pavements, or is it that they couldn’t give a damn? If i is the second, are we in a position to waste money on informing people about what they are already aware of?
I think we have all come across the furtive and deceptive plastic-bag brandishers; i.e., those who ostentatiously get out a plastic bag from their pockets and wave it around convincingly, whilst the mutt in question is squinting with the effort of emptying its bowels. No sooner have you turned the corner, you know that the bag is quickly stuffed – pristinely empty – back into the person’s pocket as the sniggering duet speed off, leaving the newly born sole-liner untouched.
What about dog urine, which is equally insalubrious? Do we have enough police to trail dog walkers?
What is the answer?
