On a more spiritual note, we include a press release from the local Protestant Christian community:

God is good all the time – more importantly, God is God all the time. Despite a bad weather forecast, rain during the week and a deluge of rain leading to the suspension of the religious events surrounding the idols of the ‘cofradias’ and ‘hermandades’ on Good Friday morning in the Town Hall Square, we were blessed with dry, warm and mostly sunny weather on Resurrection Sunday morning. This meant that we were able to go ahead, as planned, with our dramatic presentation about the week leading up to, and including, Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, together with the musical participation of Centro Familiar Cristiano church.

Having my eldest daughter, Lydia, here with her family gave us the opportunity to celebrate with flags and music in the middle of Almuñécar in the open air. T

here were many people of different nationalities gathered on the terraces of the bars, attentive to what was happening as we shared to Good News of Easter in Spanish and in English. One of the Elders of the Spanish congregation prayed for God to open the floodgates of heaven and pour out healing and freedom and hope over the place we were gathered and over all who were there. Our ongoing prayer is that in a world that humanly speaking makes less sense every day, people will come to know the stability, hope and assurance that is available to us all through the power of God in lives that acknowledge Him.

We are very grateful to Alex of The Meson for allowing us to use his electricity and also to the town council who granted us permission to celebrate in this way.

As a Christian Community here in Almuñécar we meet once a month for ‘Breakfast/Brunch Church’ where we share what God is doing in our lives (or our questions about God and faith) over a meal.
