Now, it’s been a long time since I was accused of being anywhere to the left of Genghis Khan, politically. But it has to be asked, when the queues at the Food Banks are getting longer and unemployment is still at an all-time high (and maybe getting worse) then you have to wonder if this (the previous article) is the best possible use of public funds?

It may be that the funds for the increased comfort of the Locales were from a regional (i.e. La Junta) source, so the Mayor had no choice as to how the funds should be allocated. It still begs the question, regardless of the funding source, do the Locales really, really need larger premises – or is it more important to help the unfortunate people who are the innocent victims of this economic depression?
