A couple of pieces regarding local politics (I told you elections were on the agenda, didn’t I?).
Firstly, the PSOE has been complaining about the state of the facilities (nursing homes) for the elderly in both Salobreña and Lobres. Apparently, the facilities are worse than useless, Not even a glass of clean water is available, and the cafeteria has not been working for seven months, the toilets are filthy and unusable and the contractor hired by the Town Hall to take care of these things is doing nothing to earn his money. Oooops!
Closer to home, our new best friend, Sra. Maria Eugenia Rufino, the leader of the Opposition PSOE in Salobreña has launched a new attack on the plans of our Mayor to raise funds by increasing the IBI – Property Tax to you and me. Mind you, in the time-honoured fashion of all politicians, she offers no valid alternative method to balance the Municipal Books. Well, it’s not her job, is it? Yet one wonders by how much her tune will change should she win the next election?
