Everyday Scenes of Life in Town and Country in the Poniente Granadino, 30th Sept – 16th Oct 2010
Building on the fabulous success of last year’s exhibition, which was attended by hundreds of Spaniards and many other nationalities alike, this September sees the second edition of the Con Otros Ojos exhibition, organised in conjunction with the AAPL (Associación de Anglo-Parlantes de Loja) and Loja’s Department of Culture.
Now an annual event in the calendar of the Poniente Granadino, the theme of the exhibition continues to be that of Spain seen from an outsider’s point of view. This year, three photographers, a fine artist and an illustrator come together to create a fascinating glimpse of scenes of everyday life in the Poniente Granadino, which – because of their very ordinariness – would perhaps normally go unnoticed if not seen by fresh eyes.
The amplification of the beautiful 16th century Renaissance building that is Loja’s emblematic cultural centre, CIC El Pósito, means that this year’s exhibition occupies an extra exhibition room, making three in total, and consequently gives the participating artists ample space to show a varied selection of work.
To further extend the boundaries of Con Otros Ojos into an interactive cultural event rather than simply a static exhibition, on Friday 1st October, in the plaza outside the Pósito, a street theatre performance Henry VIII’s visit to Loja, taking a humorous look at medieval England will be put on by the The Mollina Music Hall Company.
