Anyone for Tennis? There are more than 40 ladies and gentlemen in the Las Palmas tennis club from all over Europe, including Belgium, UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Austria, Argentina, Switzerland and Spain, a real mix of both residents, and others who spend part of their year here.
There is a little bar next to the tennis courts, for refreshments and a tapa or two, and the owner is the tennis teacher Antonio Valero Ruiz (Phone 665 970 349).
Club de Tenis Las Palomas hosted its traditional San Jose Spring Doubles, competition at the end of March 2009. It was a well run event with drinks and snacks. Pairings were random with six different nationalities forming four mixed doubles and four gentlemen doubles teams.
The final was won by Martina Schulz (GER) and Sergio Martesotti (ESP) 3-2 in a hard fought battle against Ricardo Rubia (ESP) and Roland Provenier (BEL). The president of the club presented two traditional tennis rackets to the winners.
