Protección Civil for Almuñécar/Herradura has issued its figures for July, concerning First Aid on the at its four beach posts: La Herradura, San Cristóbal, Puerta del Mar and Velilla beaches. Jelly-fish stings are up, which is hardly surprising as there are more people around to be stung, so to speak.

San Juan brought with it unwanted summer visitor; jelly fish – and bloody great ones, at that! During the night, bathers were blissfully unaware of the ‘invasion fleet,’ apart from the occasional sting victim but the next day, people started hooking ‘aliens’ out of the water.
