A man in his mid-20s died on Saturday after reportedly receiving an electrical discharge and the Guardia Civil are investigating the incident.

The 25-year-old man had been working in a plastic greenhouse in Castillo de Baños (which is a dependency of Polopos) on the Costa Tropical.

The emergency coordination centre, 112 received a call directly from the village’s Centro de Salud, informing them that they had just admitted a man who had possibly been electrocuted and had died as a result.

All work-place deaths have to be investigated, amongst other reasons to see if he had legal employment, which is not always the case in intensive farming under plastic.
