Referee Miguel González was arrested for alleged sexual assault prior to officiating the Granada vs. Racing match on last Sunday.
According to an article in El Comercio, the 33-year-old referee allegedly hired the services of a sex worker in Gijón, then reportedly forced her to have sexual relations without payment.

He is accused of threatening her with a police investigation regarding her irregular residency status in Spain and even brandished a National Police identification badge. When the police searched his home, they found uniforms and badges belonging to the Policía Nacional, the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local.
Following his arrest, the referee was released pending trail and subsequently officiated the match at Los Cármenes Stadium in Granada between the Rojiblancos and the Cantabrians.
The case is currently under investigation in Gijón, where he faces charges of sexual assault, coercion, and usurpation of public functions; i.e., impersonating a police officer
The Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) announced his immediate suspension as a precautionary measure.
Miguel González has refereed more Granada matches this season (3) than any other referee except for Salvador Lax.
