The Asociación de Vecinos del Casco Antiguo in Salobreña are far from being happy bunnies over the lack of festive lighting up there.
The Councillor for Fiestas explained away this dearth reasoning that the lorry used for putting up the Christmas lights couldn’t operate up there, which did not convince the locals whatsoever.

The Councillor said that they would need permission from homeowners in order to attach the lighting arrangements to their facades.
The Asociación pointed out that in previous years there were no problems putting the Christmas lights up in the Casco Antiguo and that alternative methods exist for tackling areas with difficult access. Futhermore, they point out that nobody, at any time, has approached homeowners to ask permission to use their facades to anchor the lighting.
The residents of the Old Town think that this is yet another example of how the Town Council is giving them the sensation that the Casco Antiguo is being ignored.
