A woman died and a man was injured in a road accident within the municipality of Albondón on Wednesday afternoon.

The emergency coordination centre, 112, received calls starting at 14.45h from several people who had witnessed a car leaving the road and rolling down a steep barranco near kilometre-point four on the GR-6202.

The centre immediately alterted the Guardia Civil (Tráfico), the Cádiar Fire Department and a 061 ambulance.

Upon arrival at the scene, the doctor onboard the ambulance could only confirm that the woman had died at the scene, after fire personnel cut her body from the wreckage so that it could be lifted 40 metres back up to the road.

The other occupant of the car was a man who had received injuries which were treated at the Centro de Salud in Cádiar.

No other details are known about their identifies or the injuries suffered by the man.
