Torrenueva Costa’s Parking

The hanging bridge with the glass floor, affording dizzying views of the rocks and beach below, has become a tourist magnet... but there is a problem.

To get to it, there are a whole lot of steps to climb so for anybody with mobility problems, it is, in effect, unreachable.

For this reason the Torrenueva Town Hall has decided to do something about it by acquiring nearby land next to where the bridge is. This means that the surrounding land is virtually all publicly owned (90%) so there is only a small part left to be included. The Mayor is confident that there will be no problem in acquiring the land.

On this land will be a parking area for around 100 vehicles, five of which will be for reduced-mobility visitors; i.e. handicapped, parking spaces. From there to the bridge there will be ramps included; thus eliminating the need to use the stone steps.

The budget for all this is around 100,000 euros, all of which will come from municipal coffers. Work is expected to begin at the beginning of next year and be completed by the end of 2026.

It’s worth mentioning that all this land that the Town Hall has acquired will also have another use; a park featuring trails, viewpoints, and rest areas.
