The Fiestas del Rosario began on the 1st in Salobreña with the traditional meal for the elderly. The turn out was even larger than last year.
The Councillor for Fiestas, Nelson Ligero, expressed his gratitude for everybody’s collaboration for the Senior’s Traditional Merienda (high tea), including bakers, local pastry shops and Isabel Garrido who performed this year’s Pregón to announce the commencement of the fiesta.

Yesterday, whilst we were delivering this month’s magazine, we saw that Town Hall workers were busily marking out with orange paint the spaces along the paseo marítimo for floats to park, or for market stalls — not sure which!
Yesterday also saw a gymkhana entitled Tres Princesas up in the old town, inspired by the work of Washington Irving in his Tales of The Alhambra where he recounts the story of the Three Princess imprisoned in the Castle of Salobreña.
Things will hot up this weekend with the traditional, highly decorated, floats parade and mounted horsemen and women, dressed in traditional Andalusian costumes
Definitely not to be missed!
