Dangerous 12-year Old?

A child walking along by himself or herself around midnight is unusual, which is why police officers approached the child, who was behaving nervously — he had done a U-turn upon seeing the officers.

As this took place in the dodgy, northern area of the city of Granada, they asked to see inside his small backpack because they suspected that he was trying to hide something and found a revolver, 80 rounds of ammunition and drugs.

Actually, it was a citizen, neighbourhood-watch patrol that came across the boy and informed the Policía Nacional. When the police stopped him, he was shaking (unsurprisingly for a 12-year old) but gave them his name and age.

In the backpack they found sneakers, books, medications, a mobile, and a plastic bag containing a 50 grammes of marihuana buds. As mentioned above, they also found a .38-calibre revolver and 37 rounds in one knotted sock and another nine rounds in the sock that made up the pair. There were another 35 rounds in a clear, plastic bag. Fortunately, the revolver was not loaded.

Whilst he was being searched, the mother turned up, giving both her boy’s name and her own. The officers took them both down to the station, where they formally handed the lad over to his mother. The boy claimed that he had been given the backpack by a stranger, who had asked him to deliver it to a specific location. For this trouble he was given 20 euros.

The police are tracing the gun and ammunition.
