On the 6th of July there was a case of hit & run on the GR-43 where it passes through Pinos Puente when a motorist ran into a motorbike and then fled the scene.
Not only did the driver not offer assistance, even though the rider was badly injured and still alive, but he also didn’t even call it in (not even anonymously). The victim later died.

As the result of an extensive police investigation, a 66-year-old man was arrested, charged with reckless manslaughter, failure to provide assistance, and leaving the scene of an accident.
The police finally located the vehicle involved in the collision, which had been hidden on private property belonging to the suspect. The damage to the car completely matched the conditions of the accident; i.e., extent of damage to the car, paint samples, etc.
Editorial comment: the arrested man remains as only a ‘suspect’ as he could claim that he had not been at the wheel, which will not allow him to evade all responsibility.
