La Rábita Speed Trials

The excitement of motorsports returns to Granada's Costa Tropical with the 12th La Rábita Time Trial, taking place on Sunday, June 22nd.

This highly anticipated event on the Andalusian, motorsport calendar is organised by the Club Deportivo CODA, in collaboration with the Federación Andaluza de Automovilismo and the Albuñol Town Council.

Every year, professional drivers compete in this competition, which includes customised road cars and Kart-Cross buggies, ready to demonstrate their skills on a one-kilometer course.

A kart-cross is a racing buggy built from a small tubular chassis and a medium-cylinder motorbike engine (between 500 for twin-cylinder 2-stroke and 650cc for twin-cylinder, 4-stroke engines). Their weight to power ratio means that they go like a bat out of hell.

The race will be held on the old La-Rábita Road (N-340), where participants must set the fastest time against the clock in a competition consisting of two official heats and a practice session.

The La Rábita Time Trial counts towards the Andalusian Time Trial Championship and will also count towards the Granada Provincial Council Cup, establishing itself as one of the most attractive events on the Andalusian motorsport calendar.

As a prelude to the event, on Wednesday, June the 18th, starting at 15.30h, a special programme Poniente Deportivo will be broadcast live from the Oficina Municipal in La Rábita. Fans can follow it on Radio Poniente El Ejido (94.5 FM) and Radio Cehel (102.5 FM).
