Calle Azahar La Caleta

Calle Azahar in La Caleta (Salobreña) is undergoing roadworks to improve its sewage and mains water pipes.

This work will hopefully achieve two objectives: improve the underground infrastructure and eliminated the damp in housing along the said street.

The work is being carried out by the Mancomunidad de La Costa Tropical, with a budget of 17,820 euros and should take about three months. Furthermore, the work will also include laying cobblestones on nearby Calle Rambilla.

Mayor Javier Ortega Prados said they had been wanting to work in this area for a long time but a lack of funds had prevented this, despite the said street not having had any work done on it in the last 40 years. In facts, the pipes that are to be replaced are old iron ones, and in some cases, even lead ones.

Editorial comment: This is one of the streets at the very top of La Caleta, visible from the N-340, but almost possible to reach from below.
