Two guests at a hotel saw a waitress go to the desserts showcase and pour a yellowish liquid on them, which turned out to be bleach.

They reported this to the Hotel Manager, who informed the Policía Nacional who have since managed to identify the alleged culprit.

The woman is accused of trying to damage the hotel’s reputation through causing food poisoning. The motivation, it seems, is that it was her last day of work and that her contract was not going to be renewed.

The 50-year-old suspect, who has no criminal record whatsoever, will soon sit on the bench of the accused to face a possible 3-year, prison sentence, which is the penalty that the Prosecutor’s Office of Málaga has recommended.

She will face charges under the Public Health Act, Article 365, which covers “poisoning or adulterating with infectious substances or others that may be seriously harmful to health, in food substances destined for public use or to the consumption of a group of people.”

The defendant has denied the charge from the beginning, when the two hotel guests pointed her out to the hotel manager. When informed by the head of security for the hotel of what she was accused of doing, she replied, “You think I’m crazy? How I am going to poison some children?” she stated

This incident took place around 20.50h on May the 31st, 2023 in a hotel on the Costa de Sol with a buffet arrangement for its guests.
